May 2014

The busy season for UMVC members is on. The April meeting was attended by only one official officer, me, but because Pete Park had been kind enough to draw up the agenda and run off hard copies we agreed that he should run the meeting. Thanks Pete and job well done, I owe you one now. So the meeting finally got going at 7:13 with welcoming to visitors. We had two this month, Mr. Jay E. Collier from Tooele, and Mr. Dwayne Delguadro from Centerville. Welcome to both and we hope you find our company acceptable to return often. We had a total of 18 people attend this meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the meeting proceeded with the approval of minutes for the March meeting without correction. Because of the lack of attendance by officers (remember Lodi, California was happening then) the financial and quartermaster reports were not available. We all wanted to be in California enjoying the meet there and look forward to reports on how it was this year. Business for the meeting consisted of three topics. MVPA discussion took place first with pros and cons being thrown out on joining. Use of live firearms for events was discussed as well. Pete will prepare ballots for voting next month. Next the upcoming Thanksgiving Point car show on the 17th was reviewed and no commitments have been made by members attending this meeting. The final topic was the camp out and convoy for May 2nd. Three persons attending the meeting are going, and they thought two more would go as well. Next month the educational presentation will be provided by Bruce Morgan. He has found many books and associated material covering both WW1 and WW2 in his mother’s estate. It should be interesting to see what he has for us at the May 29th meeting. And finally I’d like to report that the Fort Douglas museum is looking better with each month passing as construction is being accomplished and it’s looking great. The meeting was adjourned at 8:18.
